Today marks the anniversary of The American Indian Religious Freedom Act of 1978, which once again made it legal for Natives to practice our spiritual and cultural beliefs in the so called united states. They had been outlawed for 95 years by the Code of Indian Offences in 1883. For perspective, I was 4 years old before I could legally practice our Mvskoke and Semvnole ways.
