Überall die gleiche betäubte Ratlosigkeit, das Einstellen auf Stellungskämpfe, um zu verteidigen, was an Freiheiten noch da ist und abzuwehren, dass es noch schlimmer kommt. Verteidigung und Abwehr sind wichtig, klar. Die Message "Verteidigen, was wir haben" funktioniert aber für den Großteil derer nicht, für die der Status Quo bereits prekär. So falsch die Antworten der Konservativen 🤝 Rechten sind, so wenig ist ihre Analyse falsch: Wir befinden uns in einer Krise.

Given the spectacular failure of Open AIs new ChatGPT version (ChatGPT 5) it's easy to ridicule it. Brian Merchant however has a good and sadly sobering point: "If we wake up to millions of addicted and deluded AI chatbot users, students incapable of finishing their homework without help from an app, and automation software that surveils and immiserates workers, each hurriedly installed on the top layer of our society, well, the joke will have been on all of us."

One of the most irritating things about the left activist groups I work in is the illogical mismatch between how Tesla and how so-called "AI" is treated. Tesla is shunned upon, physical resistance against individual cars or factories is welcomed and the ecological and social impact is broadly discussed. "AI" however is seen as a neutral tool, used broadly and joyfully and criticism is shrugged off as technicalities. I really struggle to address that effectively.

It currently looks like FOMO is getting EU-member states into investing into "AI" infrastructure right at the end of the hype bubble which could lead to huge public-private-partnership investments into material infrastructure that are build to generate profit but will disappoint greatly.
