"I may not be a contrarian, but I am a hater. I hate the waste, the loss, the destruction, the theft, the damage to our planet and the sheer excitement that some executives and writers have that workers may be replaced by AI — and the bald-faced fucking lie that it’s happening, and that generative AI is capable of doing so."
"Alice Weidel wurde nicht eingeladen, weil jemand geschlafen hat. Sie wurde eingeladen, weil alle wach waren. Weil jede Abteilung, jedes Gremium, jede Redaktion wusste, dass es passiert – und niemand es gestoppt hat. Das war keine Entgleisung, das war ein gemeinsames Projekt." https://www.patreon.com/posts/watchparty-mit-134557058
"Not all innovations deserve to exist, and many should never have been created in the first place." After finishing Jathan Sadowski's book ("The Mechanic And The Luddite") I need to re-emphasize my recommendation to read it. I don't really have an independent place for my longer book reviews, yet. So, if you care about a few more words about Jathan's book, I sadly have to refer you to my LinkedIn:
"While actual AI isn't fit to replace anything or anyone, it does work as an engine of precaritisation and marginalisation, of Uber and algorithmic welfare cuts, It's an apparatus that crudely extracts as much encoded human knowledge as it can in order to provide a shoddy substitute for key social functions like education and healthcare, while further concentrating wealth and power."
"Europa wurde nach einer Entführten und Vergewaltigten benannt. Vielleicht passt das besser, als uns lieb ist. Der Name steht nicht für Schutz, sondern für Besitz. Nicht für Recht, sondern für Zugriff. Nicht für Erinnerung, sondern für Wiederholung. Europa war nie ein sicherer Ort. Es war ein Projekt zur Grenzziehung. Wer dazugehört, darf leben. Alle anderen sind Verhandlungsmasse. Was mich vom Meeresgrund trennt? Ein Lottoschein namens Staatsangehörigkeit." Just 👏👏👏 https://www.patreon.com/posts/zeus-dobrindt-133804881
"Hours before the keynote speaker, Abeba Birhane—founder and lead of the TCD AI Accountability Lab (AIAL) and one of Time magazine’s 2023 100 Most Influential People in AI—was set to take the stage, she was asked by organizers to remove some of her slides. Specifically, the organizers wanted Birhane to “remove anything that mentions ‘Palestine’ ‘Israel’ and replace ‘genocide’ with ‘war crimes‘” and “a slide that explains illegal data torrenting by Meta.” https://thebulletin.org/2025/07/ai-for-good-with-caveats-how-a-keynote-speaker-was-censored-during-an-international-artificial-intelligence-summit/
I have read and written a lot about Project Cybersin lately (see e.g. here: ) and I am still making up my mind about how much emphasis I want to put on repurposing capitalisms means for emanzipatory ends.
Very good (premium) #ThisMachineKills episode on Palantir. Dispute TMK reducing the frequency of their podcast output it is - to me - currently the most relevant and most on point podcast on techno-politics. It is very worth a patreon subscription. https://www.patreon.com/login?ru=%2Fposts%2Fpremium-410-131722290%3Fimmediate_pledge_flow%3Dtrue
Speaking from experience: Taking a risk by calling things out can be a very isolating experience. Don't applaud people that do. Do as they did: Take a risk, speak up, call shit out. Because the more people do so, the less risk everyone has to take. And eventually what was once daring to say has moved into the realm of ordinary again.
