I’m so fucking tired of how queer people and allies love trans women when we’re dead and hate us when we’re alive. We are always the problem. We are always the one who is to blame. And we cannot be wronged. There’s a reason why so many of us can’t get or stay employed. There’s a reason so many of us only have sex work as an option left to turn to. There’s a reason why so many of us are either dead or on the street. Also, let’s be clear, the people who have done this to me AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN are middle-class, white cis women.
Huh, I’m starting to wonder if putting someone in power to run the government like a business because he played a businessman on reality TV may have not been a great idea? Almost like doing that was exactly the worst decision from a purely economic standpoint? Huh. Weird. On a serious note: folks, things are going to get really tough for the most financially vulnerable. If you can, get involved in your local mutual aid org to help keep people fed, clothed, and having access to medicine. We’re going to need to take care of each other because the state is actively cutting what little supports may have kept people afloat otherwise.
HARLEY QUINN THE SHOW IS OVER 😭😭😭 Okay, it just hasn't been renewed, but the season 5 finale sure was wrapped up like a series finale. 日本人の友達と話して、今日本語で考えてきた。また日本語で話す勇気を見つけてよかったわね!今まで、ほとんど忘れちゃったと緊張した。😅
Whenever people claim that no one could have predicted the mess we're in now, The Clash was telling us exactly where neoliberalism was going in 1982. From the beginning of implementation under Reagan and Thatcher, the vision neoliberalism had for the world could be summed up in three minutes. Know your rights...all three of them...
FREE MAHMOUD KHALIL They have currently imprisoned Mahmoud for being involved in student protests against the genocide in Gaza, are interfering with his ability to access a lawyer and resources, and are attempting to revoke his green card without due process. Let's be clear what this means: they have decided without legislation or formal immigration procedures to attempt to revoke the permanent residency based upon their speech. This is BAD. Previously, people with student visas were threatened like this, which was easier to do because the executive branch and ICE have a lot of leeway with these forms of visas. They also depend on attending a specific school that if you are expelled from, you lose your status. But a green card is supposed to provide a person a permanent right to reside and work in the US, as well as entitles them to many of the same constitutional protections as US citizens. The right to free speech and the first amendment are not unique to citizens. This is a first try to push past the laws and further consolidate power - if they succeed, they will go after others with green cards for the views they express in public and exercising their rights. I would not doubt that they would revoke the green cards of trans people or refugees if this sets a precedent.
I've been telling people California is not as secure for trans folks as some people think it is. And while people in other parts of the county have see the glowing press of Gov. Newsom and told me how good he seems, a lot of us here have known him for the principle-less opportunist he is. He showed his ass the past few years when he pushed to criminalize being homeless even more, and "solve" the problem by throwing unhoused people in prison. I knew then he would gladly throw us under any bus if it served his ambition. Sure enough, the first episode of his podcast (why does a governor have a personal podcast???) he invites on right-wing nutjob Charlie Kirk to buddy-up and say he doesn't think trans kids should have equal rights. Let's just say that I am going to do what I can to support anyone who challenges him next primary and will raise hell if he tries to run for national office after this, like he's been angling to do. https://www.politico.com/news/2025/03/06/gavin-newsom-breaks-with-democrats-on-trans-athletes-in-sports-00215436
Asking for music recommendations: what’s a song that channels the feeling of building a home and choosing a settled life for you? I use music to help me frame things in my life and motivate me a lot. And so much of my favorite music is either tied to how I used to live (adventuring through the world and seeking out new things constantly) or for fighting against fascism or about queer love. But my therapist brought up a good point: I moved back to the US to build a more settled life after spending half my life bouncing from country to country - I should reframe things as the efforts I’m putting in to put down roots and build a home and life for myself here. So, I’m looking for music that hits that mood and energy. I’ll take suggestions from almost any genre or type of singer / band, though I would really like queer or fem vocalists the most.
