What happens if you ask men to shave their body hair as part of a university course in sexuality studies? πŸ“„.pdf A long read, but a fascinating one.
Oooh! My wardrobe finally counts as "vintage"! image
August 1st - Googler asks the community if XSLT should be removed from the HTML living standard. Respondents overwhelmingly reject the suggestion. August 6th - Google starts work on removing XSLT from Chrome. August 14th - Googler sends PR to remove XSLT from the standard. Like, I don't have a particular view of whether this is a good idea or not. But these sham community engagement exercises piss me off.
Me: I'd like to buy a vegetarian sausage. Any recommendations? You: Have you considered raising your own pigs and learning how to butcher them? Me: Errr… no. That's nothing like what I want. Anyway, how hard is it to keep pigs? You: I don't know. I've never done it. But I found a forum post from 2014 which says its pretty easy. (This is a post about open source zealots.)
Thinking of moving on from GitHub - I already have a GitLab and Codeberg presence. But I find both of them dissatisfying for two reasons. 1. I can't host in my own domain. I don't want to run/maintain a git instance. But I'd like to use git.edent.tel - so I can keep the URL but swap provider if necessary. 2. Lack of community / discoverability. Both GL & CB let new users sign in with GH, but that's still a bit of a barrier. (This is a nerdbait to help me find the answers.)

πŸ†• blog! β€œI'm never going back to Matrix” I should love Matrix. It is a decentralised, privacy preserving, multi-platform chat tool. Goodbye Slack and your ridiculous free limits. AdiΓ³s Discord and your weird gamification. Suck it IRC with your obscure syntax and faint stench of BO. WhatsApp and Telegram can stick their heads in a bucket of lukewarm sick and sing sea … πŸ‘€ Read more: βΈ» #foss #Matrix #OpenSource #rant

I've found that replying to unsolicited messages with "杀ηŒͺη›˜?" is a remarkably effective way of flushing out scammers πŸ˜† image
Here's an interesting (to me) question about #GDPR. I've asked BSky for a copy of all my Direct Messages. I assume they will provide everything I've sent as it is data I've generated. What I'm less sure about is whether messages sent *to* me would be in scope of GDPR. Any thoughts? (NB, I'm not interested in your views about Online Safety / rival social networks / whatever batshit politics are going on. Don't make me mute you, please.)
