About 3 months ago, @fiatjaf (the creator of Nostr) and I had a conversation about privacy. He concluded with the following post. See image. image
Anyways, back to freedom tech.
Serious question, how is @calle getting through airports though. Facial recognition cameras are everywhere. He’s good. Impressive.
Now there is one profile who seems to showcase “freedom technology” and that’s @calle . He’s creating some innovative technologies. (I’m still confused about Cashu. But as stated earlier, it could be ahead of its time.) @calle might just be 100 steps ahead. And he’s clearly a staunch supporter of privacy. Heck, I don’t even know what he looks like.
@JeffG is working on a secure messaging client. I’m looking forward to it. Is this an example of freedom technology? We’ll see once it rolls out.
Does Nostr truly equal freedom technology? Can a whistleblower post information without getting outed? Surely they have the freedom to say what they want. But is the technology in place to help them do so. Can they feel safe online? I read that someone was working on a client for whistleblowers. The profile name eludes me right now. If you know them, tag them. How is the project coming along?
The Nostr enthusiasts gonna be talking about Nostr next week at the Oslo Freedom Forum. What will they say? I’ll get updates. Let’s hope they tell the whole truth about Nostr and not just show the cool parts. Don’t sell pipe dreams. And surely don’t deceive and lie.
So what then are better technologies? Tag them. Name them. This is your time to shine. I’m reposting.
Surely there has to be better technologies.
If someone wants to engage in freedom tech, is that what they can expect?
