The land that has the most compute wins, in my humble opinion. Compute is everything.
The United States currently commands an overwhelming lead in global AI compute power, holding nearly 69% of the world’s total capacity. China, while still trailing, is accelerating rapidly and now accounts for about 14.5%.
European Union holds just 6.1% of global AI compute—a stark contrast given its economic size and scientific heritage. This lag I believe is because the EU has regulated AI to death. The EU has prioritized strict AI regulation and privacy protections - safety first.
Japan, once a global leader in computing, now claims only 1.2% of global AI compute.
Keep an eye out for the middle east. I forecast they will have more compute than the EU real soon.
While the U.S. retains a formidable lead, China is closing the gap FAST, and the EU’s cautious regulatory approach could hold them back. Japan is toast.
