I finished Broken Money by @Lyn Alden in sauna on New Year's Eve. Fun to read. Educates, explains, elevates. 100% recommend. Now I'm in 2024. Starting it with #Bitcoin   : Return of Sound Money by @Josef Tětek Let's get one step closer to fixing the world in 2024... https://image.nostr.build/48282ec9ad2c2e71f63e5ce0f4a132dd4590526da927f15557960effe7b6b9dd.jpg#m=image%2Fjpeg&dim=756x1008&blurhash=_8H1Sf00IBKP589%5DI%3A00%7EVX9Mx%5Ej%251%24%25%3DaE2%5Ejo%7DIVM%7Cxa%7EVIUw%5DIVXSI%3DE2s%3A-os9xaIo-oxt57NbS%23NHWqM%7Cni%24g%251R%2BRk%252R*a%7B%5EjRPRkxt%24%25NbNGIoxtWXRkWBofjZ&x=cf6ee77a44483029f1c0dd09402605b197f72ae05ae3eeaec9cabc3a52ef4496
Correct me if I'm wrong... But among other things, Vitalik also says that: 1. Many projects use blockchain just so that they can secure (easy) funding. 2. Points out how projects are starting to get centralized and how it is impossible to ensure decentralization in PoS. https://image.nostr.build/b8c99e31c0797b6133855d37c0edae69ca062115abec73068a4b45f037d66cd8.jpg#m=image%2Fjpeg&dim=962x598&blurhash=rkRfXbV%3Fogaxogaxogaxogf6axjsa%23j%5Bf7fQayfRgSbJf5j%5BjYa%23jrfkaxV%3Dj%5Ej%5Daxj%5Bf6j%5Da%7Dj%5BocaybIj%40azjtazj%5Daykujsjsa%23f5j%5Df5flf5&x=5982b223c476e3f83a2f5b718bd1e1765507e5d5a69868259ed2c3cc0bd5a0d4 He says as projects get bigger, they abandon their ideals => This confirms just how people are corruptible and how you can't have anyone in charge. At the same time, he says it may not be possible to ensure decentralization on the PoS protocol level. And that is why we do PoW. Vitalik is wicked smart, no arguing about that. But it feels like he is maybe coming to some realizations. I don't want all the altcoins to fail. I honestly don't care. But I wouldn't bet on any of them. For many reasons, including usage of PoS, network effects, etc. Link to the whole article for context and to make an independent opinion: #bitcoin
You either quit #bitcoin too soon or it will quit you from the Matrix.
#bitcoin is delightful... https://image.nostr.build/44bc80fdd4c44ee8bd7342d001b716835a56ce41d8cc2b205558b610fce5682e.jpg#m=image%2Fjpeg&dim=756x1008&blurhash=_BHmlqpvDjJR%25L-BjZGte.M%7CbbofXlso%3Fuo%7Dxu-VWCofRjrtWB-Vx%5B%23m%24%25nO%7EV%251nPf%2BxZK3R*-oI%3BR%25t7FHRQEf%3D%7BR*WBI%3BVtWBwJ-oNaa1nPwKOrr%3F%251R*J7RjNa-UoJ&x=d565a0043e576f9347753e0a30143e152d0cd004cab91a6ac8adc2e1944d6270
I created some literal bitcoins... Is this a hard fork, and does whoever accept it participate in it? 🤔 https://image.nostr.build/2ee2363b7d90f8f95e0dbb0ec656f35300436258e1c35ac371c18a74df221478.jpg#m=image%2Fjpeg&dim=768x1024&blurhash=_pI%3AzXX9R*jZRkkCRjPUxZRka%7CRjoeRj%7EAe%3AS4ofRkkBR*OEW%3Bs%3Aofaea%7DjZRjs9ofs%3AWVjZj%5BVsSNofofoej%5BkCNGjZoKWCoefQoLoLoyWVjZkBoebHt7azWBR*ayazay&x=099f4676db67c2c2de8395dbfb11aafe75021599de084da29e16af4e69a49784 #bitcoin
When you're so ashamed of your inflation you just scrap the "million" part out. The banknote on the left is worth less than $0.028. The one on the right is worth $1.4. But the quality of paper is still good. So people prefer cash so they actually have paper they can use. It's peak fiat degeneration. #bitcoin fixes this. https://image.nostr.build/d8923d540de53b6eb1a25c2ef02cb8b91a5fc0e708be033a187f7d71b995b67e.jpg#m=image%2Fjpeg&dim=756x1008&blurhash=_7Eo3%40w%4000E1DjE19u00%3FG-UozjbM%7Cof010f%7D%3Fs.-%3A%252%251DOE2-%3BVtozkpoMRhxHt7kVRPxaNG%7EVWVM%7DNZRjsAbExa%252NHs%3Aj%3FNGWC%3FHxaMxRjX8R*t6NIWUWAxakDR*WC&x=c372d440f97cf32d7afb620c639442068f986f0c6d318abedc5e533a61ad9bab
You get 2 different prices in Venezuela depending whether you pay cash or digital. Currency is so worthless there, it is smuggled in large quantities to Colombia, where it is bleached and used to "print" dollars over it. Cash is therefore more valuable as the paper it is printed on is still high quality and you can smuggle it for counterfeiting purposes... #bitcoin fixes this... https://image.nostr.build/8f7ad0dcc006d3c4421fddbd44891e275e7a52fc0a0c4760975f527ea5b9baed.jpg#m=image%2Fjpeg&dim=1920x1440&blurhash=%23DI%7DbP%7EoIpxuIAo%23Ioj%5BRm00M%7EM_s.M%7BjsWAR*WB00NHnNWVtQV%40slf5oz4TIV%25hRPxua%7Bxvj%5Bs%3BD%25n%24t8WUxuofoLt7j%5Bt7Wrn%24ofoJoLWBt7V%40ozxuj%5BaKWBWBWBWBWC&x=342193a07345f69bc1b521b4c1a82d349137d32bed321542f00159c6144a8ed5
Imagine having a monthly spending limit set in Venezuelan Bolivars. And Bolivar gets so inflated that what used to be worth thousands of $ is worth $0.01. You can't even buy a loaf of bread or a bottle of water with your GOLD MASTERCARD/VISA CARD. Even having a limit on a debit card itself with YOUR OWN MONEY is ridiculous. Yet we all have it... And that brings us to the fact that your money in the bank account is not yours, it's not money either and the bank is not a bank... #bitcoin fixes this. https://image.nostr.build/2778ba0b34dedfcde681aa640e5b51907785684120ed30058251721ff828d66e.jpg#m=image%2Fjpeg&dim=756x1008&blurhash=_GKdD0D*16A1IUV%40R-0L%7EU-O-ooextWCADS%25IAw%5BWCofxZ00S%25o%7EROs%3AIqV%40E2M_xCNctRWWoLMvMxtSbcs.s8bcDiNHxuV%40W%3DoeW%3BEMaeWCR%2CV%40bcaenhS5R%2BaJafbcV%40&x=c66eac4db1a602956a2a5c4b7ee9482d758bfb3450b778bfeefbfe3b3a125b2e
