That one time my band played a shitty hotel in Newcastle and some drunk tradies in the crowd kept shouting “play Horses” and our drummer (ex Frenzal Rhomb) kept grabbing the mic before each song and saying “this is Horses by Darryl Braithwaite” and the crowd kept getting madder and madder when it wasn’t Horses
This feels…not great.
My new rule: I actively block anyone / everyone who tries to argue with my writing without reading my writing. Think you’ve found a gotcha because you didn’t read the piece? Blocked. I’m done with anti-literate laziness and superiority complexes.
Since 2021 I’ve kept a log classifying my meetings. The tally so far: ~200 where the category was “someone picks my brain for free.” It's useful data. It's also exhausting. The log says it’s time to stop.
Startups love to brag about "blitzscaling." But if you actually blitzed, historically, you eventually ran out of supply lines and died. Which I guess makes blitzscaling an accurate descriptor.
It’s barely 9am and I can already tell this is going to be the stupidest fucking shit I’ve read all day image
The “AI Browser Wars” are fake. Mainstream users don't care about browsers. Never have, never will. Defaults win. The real fight is enterprise control and distribution deals. https://www.theindex.media/p/the-ai-browser-wars-don-t-matter
Hearing disturbing rumours that the people saying “no need to change our behaviour, tech will fix the climate” are the same people demanding we defund climate tech
If Mamdani actually believed in freedom he’d delete social media and move to Linux and build his own distro and host his own server and found his own city and write its own constitution and grow its own food and invent its own language THE HYPOCRITE
If I had a spare $5k to invest in a new Linux laptop, new software & a non Apple // Google phone, I'd probably do it. But it'd mean walking away from most of the apps I know and love, every productivity workflow, etc. And I've already lost thousands of subscribers and tens of thousands in revenue + costs by shutting down my Twitter back when Musk took over and moving off Substack when their Nazi bullshit landed. As an indie writer / creator, it's exhausting to keep falling behind like this.
