Today our solar system went in. And we paid a portion of the bill with our own beef. Each of the contractors now have plenty of food for their families over Xmas. We also orange pilled them, so their Xmas conversations will be entertaining. We are now 100% self sufficient in beef, eggs, milk, water and electricity (and vegetables, but who cares). Our 5 year goal took 18 months. LFG #homesteading

6 weeks ago a fox broke in and killed 5 out of our 6 ducks. Miraculously, the one that survived continued to lay (fertile) eggs and got broody. Diligently, Ginger sat on her nest for weeks, and today her first two ducklings hatched. Hopefully a few more to come - but we feel so blessed that her lineage was so close to wiped-out and now can continue. image #duck #homesteading
