happy trans day of visibility :3 #TDOV #TransVisibilityDay image
๐Ÿ—จ As the Matrix.org bridge to the OFTC IRC network will likely stop working soon, we are now self-hosting our own bridge for postmarketOS related channels. The chats should continue to work the same as before, but let us know if you run into unexpected issues. If you are a well known community member who runs one or more channels related to postmarketOS (e.g. for mainlining a specific SoC) and would like to use our bridge too, then let us know!
As our community grows, we are increasing the focus we put on planning and organizing the work we do. Therefore we have been thinking hard about priorities for this year. Read all about it on our blog:
We will be able to spend a significant chunk of money on building our upcoming hardware CI system (and related software components) for improving the reliability of postmarketOS. For everybody who is donating to postmarketOS: you are amazing, thank you very much for making this possible! โค๏ธ See our new financial update blog post for our full budget plans and recap of 2024:
Documentation is very important - one of the reasons that we are happy to announce that [@undefined]( ) is our newest Trusted Contributor! They currently do the following in postmarketOS: * Working on the postmarketOS wiki; making sure the docs are up-to-date, useful and easy to understand * Mainlining Broadcom Kona series chipsets (in pmOS soon!) * Co-maintaining the Exynos 4 close to mainline kernel fork * Occasionally tracking down bugs and regressions ๐Ÿ“œ TC page: https://postmarketos.org/trusted-contributors/#knuxify
To users of the postmarketOS Matrix and IRC channels: Looks like Matrix is shutting down the IRC bridge to OFTC that we are currently using soon. We are considering whether to selfhost / possibly use an alternative public bridge instance / maaaybe it is not worth keeping a bridge around at all (meaning that we would move to matrix only) Is it important to you that we keep a Matrix <> IRC bridge around? #postmarketos
xiaomi-davinci & xiaomi-surya now use u-boot and are merged into a generic qcom-sm7150 port: > [โ€ฆ] U-Boot comes with an EFI implementation that lets us boot the Linux kernel with systemd-boot and have U-Boot pick the correct devicetree blob instead of appending it to the kernel. > This means that as long as a device is supported by the SM7150 Linux kernel fork and U-Boot, it can boot postmarketOS with no changes needed in postmarketOS! Well done @npub1f36q...pk0l! ๐ŸŽ‰
postmarketOS in 2025-02 :postmarketos: ๐Ÿ‘€ * New name foreshadowing * Office hours * MSM89x7 audio, charging, flashlight and suspend! * Modern Xiaomis POCO X3 NFC and Mi 9T/Redmi K20 moved to community category * 6 new device ports * pmbootstrap cross-native2 for faster cross compiling * systemd 256.11 * Improved Gstreamer experience * Initial Mediaberry UI packaging * Xfce and LXQt improvements * mobile-config-firefox packaging now works with #librewolf #linux
We stand in solidarity with our friends at @Codeberg.org. No project should have to deal with this kind of abuse and we applaud their efforts to tackle it and protect their community. If you share our desire for truly free software and infrastructure that doesn't harvest your data, and have to the means to, consider heading to . Community funding is the best way to ensure that projects like Codeberg can continue to succeed and be independent.
For people who have been asking us, when the next postmarketOS podcast episode will come out: we did record one at FOSDEM and have just released it, enjoy! ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ
