AliPay has launched the PL1, a biometric terminal that allows palm-based payments without the need for a phone, card, or PIN.
It uses a dual recognition system (palmprint and vein mapping) with an error rate of less than one in a million and fast authentication (transactions in ~2 seconds).
Following successful trials in Hangzhou, Alipay plans to expand its use to public transportation, controlled access, and healthcare.
