Re: The problem with the EFF's reasoning here is that these very same ISPs and other sorts of people have ALWAYS been attacking and taking down and banning marginalized people's content for spurious reasons - time and time again. The real world is ALREADY shit for marginalized people - there's no slippery slope to fall down, we're ALREADY down the slippery slope. I've had this beef with the fucking neoliberals in the EFF and ACLU for decades - they seem to think riding to the defense of right wing hate groups protects marginalized people ... but then crickets when sex workers are banned from the financial system. Or when trans people are harassed, swatted, and doxxed off the internet by organized gangs of bigoted thugs. There's NEVER a right time to ride to the defense of Nazis. EVER!
One of my favorite things in the world is to listen to my non-binary pals describe their gender! You'll get all sorts of fun variety. "Gender = nope" "Like a girl, but not" "Today's gender is this particular feeling that this specific song evoked on this day" "Gender? I barely even know 'er!" And much more! I'm fine with "woman", but I always love to hear about all the other ones people experience. (caveat, ADHD brain sometimes context switches me away with a more different shiny, it's nothing personal...)
So ... can we start a rumor that Hurricane Idalia is God's revenge on Florida for being evil fucktards to trans people?
I truly cannot express how little I care about any cis person's "concerns" about anyone else's gender.
A frustrating thing about how companies try to measure performance of their employees is that they try to measure it on an individual basis, despite the work product almost always being a group effort. Far too often, I've seen the essential and selfless employees without whom nothing would get done passed over for raises and promotions in favor of selfish peacocks who could disappear tomorrow and the productivity of the team would actually increase because they no longer have to deal with his ego.
The fundamental lie of #capitalism is that the value of something is what you can get someone else to pay for it. The problem with this is that it doesn't recognize that even people who cannot provide any labor or material goods to the economy are STILL VALUABLE! That disabled and drug addicted homeless guy digging through your garbage HAS VALUE. That nearly blind, deaf elderly cat lady down the street HAS VALUE. The poor brown refugee who can't read or write, and can't speak the language of the country they're fleeing to, risking their life in hope for a better future HAS VALUE. Until we as a society understand that EVERY human has value, we're never going to grow up as a civilization.
Evidence #463028462 that the NYT is a giant pile of transphobic trash Hat tip to @npub1k568...kj3n
It's truly frustrating and disgusting just how much of the internet's content is now obscured/blocked and requiring an email and/or an account to view.
It's weird that the only way for someone with no family or friends in their area to get a hug would be to hire a sex worker.
