Good Morning Nostriches!
While reading scripture this morning the following stuck to me:
“Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, overflowing with gratitude.
Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elemental forces of the world, and not based on Christ.
For the entire fullness of God’s nature dwells bodily in Christ, and you have been filled by Him, who is the head over every ruler and authority.”
Colossians 2:6-10 HCSB
The middle verse is what really got me. Christians today, especially Western Christians, we are weak as a whole.
How many times have we (I) mixed “what sounds good, and may hold some truth” in with my beliefs?
That mantra, that manifesting, that seemingly benign action (whatever it may be) is shifting your focus from the Creator to the created…often times oneself!
“I am good”
“I am wealthy”
“I have great health”
“I, I, I…”
The Bible says we are to focus on Christ; the source, ruler, and authority of all elemental forces…for the entire fullness of God’s nature dwells in Him [Christ].
Yes there can be truth in philosophy and benefit in tradition…but what is the source of those we participate in and do they draw us closer to Christ, or sadly, hold us captive to that which would have us rooted and built in something other than Christ.
