Not gonna lie, Pretty brain dead. Been diving deep on a few things. Studying, executing, adjusting… My brain rarely gets to this point but I think it was “a lot of new all at once” in both business, life, and impact. Grateful, yet mentally tired. Here’s to some good family time tonight and a good night’s rejuvenation.
Good morning Nostriches! Reading the #Bible in context is important. While I have many physical Bibles that I’ve been given or purchased over the decades, for the last few years I tend to use the Bible App (by YouVersion) on my iPad. I like it for a variety of reasons but one reason is the daily verse. I don’t tend to go through the commentary videos, but for people young in their walk with Christ I think it’s a good idea. What I do however is click the “read chapter” button. Then I like to read the surrrounding section for its context. Well today’s verse was the famous “seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added to you” It’s an oft quoted statement made by Jesus. So I was like, what’s the rest of the context and verses around it? Short summary (full passage below) is Christ was instructing the people not to worry about their day to day human needs becasue Father God already knows about it and if He takes care of the birds how much more will He take care of us, His images bearers! Now it gets even better… If you read the verse directly before this section it’s the also well known “you cannot serve both God and money” or in the Greek, Mammom. You see in modern English translations the demon Mammom has been obscured and translated to “money”. But the original text written by Jesus’ Disciples was the proper noun, a name, and clear identifier of a specific demon…Mammon. Mammon’s primary goal is to materialize humanity. Meaning, remove the human connection. Make us seek material things and relationships with the physical world…which is the exact opposite of what God wants for us. God wants us close to Him and one another, not Mammom. Here’s the verses: ““No one can be a slave of two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot be slaves of God and of money. “This is why I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they? Can any of you add a single cubit to his height by worrying? And why do you worry about clothes? Learn how the wildflowers of the field grow: they don’t labor or spin thread. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of these! If that’s how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, won’t He do much more for you — you of little faith? So don’t worry, saying, ‘What will we eat? ’ or ‘What will we drink? ’ or ‘What will we wear? ’ For the idolaters eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭24‬-‭34‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ #GM #Christian #Jesus #Leadership #Business #God #Biblestr
So one thought I’ve had before even watching this, but also reinforced after doing so, it is even easier now to replace Holy Spirit with a machine, computational factor math as Andy explains it’s. What do I mean? I’ve been really trying to involve Holy Spirit in the moments of my day—as many times as possible—but especially during transitions from one thing to the next. I also want to make Him my core advisor. And there inlays the battle, hurdle, risk. How many times do I go to my AI tool of choice before, or if at all, I go to God for even the most basic or complex of matters? Like right now I’m designing a new program for clients. I’m using AI a lot to bounce ideas off of and help me think through things—but what’s my ratio of running to AI vs Holy Spirit? It better be at least 1:1…but truthfully it’s not. Now thankfully God knows my heart and is a grace filled God, but that still doesn’t mean I have an excuse to espouse different behaviors than what I believe. Even though God forgives me for going to a machine over Him, just like He does when we run to man instead of Him first; it’s an area we need to be alert to so that our “meeting and project prep” involves Holy Spirit MORE THAN it does AI.
Curiosity can change everything in business and in life. Last week, it brought a new family member into our home. 🐾 When you #homeschool you learn fast that some lessons don’t come from books. This time, our son’s curiosity brought us Miku. Here’s how it happened. Our son was exploring ways to make life better for Abby Rose, our 8-year-old Shih Tzu who struggles with separation anxiety whenever we leave the house. While searching online, he found a 2-year-old rescue dog named Miku whose owner had recently died. What he didn’t know is that my wife and I had already been quietly talking about a second dog for some time. But if you have ever lived with a 13-year-old who latches onto an idea, you know why we hadn’t mentioned it. Needless to say, once he showed us Miku, we applied, and by Sunday she was home with us. In just a couple of hours, she was fitting right in and already helping calm Abby’s anxiety. Here’s what struck me. As part of his homeschool rhythm, he practices his 4 C’s each day: Curious, Create, Cultivate, and Connect. Without even realizing it, he lived them out. He was curious enough to search for ways to help Abby, created a new possibility, cultivated responsibility, and connected with something bigger than himself. That is what led us to Miku. It made me think about #business ownership. Some days progress looks like checking off the milestones you’ve been chasing. Other days it looks like an unexpected turn that didn’t fit your plan but turned out to be exactly what you needed. Both are progress if they’re moving you closer to the business and life you want. For us, Miku was that detour, and she is already bringing us closer to the life we want. What about you? Has curiosity or an unexpected turn recently led you somewhere better than you planned? #leadership #Entrepreneurship #dogstr image

After a week of rough sleep I FINALLY got an amazing night of rest Praise Jesus! While I was getting a lot done, was super productive waking at 02:00-03:00, it was terrible on my deep sleep and heart rate. I’m very grateful this morning and fired up for all I can accomplish after being rejuvenated! image
@melissa good to see ya around these parts again 🫸🫷
You gotta start with why, or as Steve calls it, your core values. I don’t care if you are a solopreneur with a team of 3 (you, yourself, and yin) or an entrepreneur with a team of a hundred… If you don’t know what you stand for, you will fall for anything and amount to nothing! Rare clip…
Broke one of my rules today—and of course it back fired 🫣 We have rules, agreements really, for a reason. Call them rules, bumpers, guardrails, whatever…but when we violate the rules, we tend to experience negative consequences. Thankfully the rule I broke was not a day breaker but it did affect me. I justified it in the name of relationships, which in my view is what leadership is all about. So I willingly sacrificed to make something happen, then the other party didn’t uphold their end of the agreement. …in hind sight was it ok to break my rule in the name of relationship or no, I should have stuck to my rule 🤷‍♂️
