Mio padre è in condizioni disastrose, abbandonato a sé stesso e alle piaghe da decubito, senza essere lavato e curato in modo adeguato da nessuno dei miei parenti che vivono vicino a lui. Come faccio per farlo andare a prendere subito da qualcuno che lo porti in una struttura? Perché, stante la situazione, non credo che durerà più di una settimana o due e vorrei, almeno, fargliele passare in un letto pulito.

My kids have declared themselves to be vegetarian. Apparently, though, they're "opportunistic" vegetarians - that is, they're vegetarians when they don't like whatever the school catering provides, but they're cheerfully OK with salami and sushi and anything else that might pique their interest. Once again, I'm reminded of how all conservatives have never grown beyond primary school.

Everybody's all cool and in love with Andor's "vintage" look (cars on coruscant, for instance), which is good. The same people took arms against the Mods in Boba Fett because they had speeders that looked like Vespas. I don't find this good.

An experiment by researchers at Carnegie Melon University staffed a fake software company with AI Agents, and the results were dismal.

Unemployment is fun but not quite as fun as having to pay for my fathers care (assuming I can even find somebody willing to do it) because the rest of my family wants to wait until the Italian healthcare leviathan actually decides that being 90 and recently amputated really means you're not in a good shape. And that's assuming they don't demand he goes to an in-person visit somewhere to confirm that he's really 90 and really amputated.

A couple weeks ago I finally picked up the courage to pause my perpetual Pratchett re-read and read The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin. After the first few chapters I had to go back to Discworld because it felt unbearable. And then I came back and something magical happened, and the apparently endless desperation ended instead and midway through I can confirm it's a great book even for sensitive cowards like myself.
