After two weeks eating carnivore I threw in the towel. Added eggs, yogurt, cheese and fruit back into the mix. Probably didn’t do it right still drinking coffee and maybe another week or two I would have felt better but it was a good experiment. Digestion was great. I never felt bloated or tired. 2 meals a day in an 8 hour eating window was quite doable. Easier to intermittently fast than with carbs. Sugar and carb cravings were only significant day 1-2 after that I didn’t notice them. The biggest challenge was feeling sluggish riding bikes and climbing. I didn’t have the same drive to get after it. I understand this is normal and maybe it changes after getting fully into ketosis but it was too much of a sacrifice with the last days of beautiful weather here in the PNW to be feeling physically weak. Mental energy was great, maybe better than when eating normally. My girlfriend, who has had rheumatoid arthritis for the past few years has been doing great with it and has significantly decreased inflammation. I am currently not allowed to eat my yogurt + fruit dessert around her… understandable. Overall I can see how carnivore is a great tool for dealing with gut/autoimmune issues and losing weight/cutting fat but I’m not convinced it’s optimal for high-level fitness especially endurance.
