If you want to know why Mastodon has broken search functionality, this is why. This side of the internet loves digging up dirt on other people using the search bar because they will 100% want a carfax report on if you've ever done something bad online. So Eugen broke search on purpose for this very reason. He was not thinking of "will artists be able to be found", but rather "will people on my site not fight each other like the crowd at Six Flags for 5 minutes". RE:
