A massive wave of rain is coming to Gaza on Friday. We used to love the rain but now we pray it doesn’t fall. Most people here live in tents, and the rest under broken roofs. I still remember the nights our tent flooded last year. We wished for death a thousand times from the pain and helplessness. Now we wait for winter with fear, under a weak roof in a destroyed home. Every day, I tell myself to stay strong. Not for me, but for my family. I smile so my mother won’t see the fear and sadness in my eyes. I hold back my tears so my siblings can feel safe even for a moment. I try to give my family hope that tomorrow is better. Surviving isn't enough in Gaza.
