Shakespeare’s genius is for all races and all time, but he is especially ours. Even those poor souls who have yet to read or watch a single performance know who Hamlet is. They recognise his silhouette, addressing the skull of his beloved Yorick, as surely as that of those other notable avatars of National pride and identity, Mao, Stalin, Hitler or Mickey Mouse. Be he ne’er so vile, every Englishman has heard Henry V’s speech on Crispin’s Day and felt his spine stiffen at the call. And we all have a friend who has married Lady Macbeth. These our birth right, one notch more than the World’s, and while we are happy to let them out on loan, they are forever Ex Libris Britannica. A possession not to be tugged away by the same dickheads who pop up in our feeds every April to remind us who St George “actually” was, and why the Full English isn’t.

This is how modernism maintains its hegemony - through snark, sarcasm, dismissiveness, bullying. Modernist architects enjoy a feeling of superiority for having what they are told is elite taste that sets them above what they see as low brow bourgeois taste.

@Wrath Of Gnon teaches more about traditional architecture than all European and 99% of all American architecture schools combined.

There is not one single traditional architecture school in all of Europe. Hundreds of schools there, each one still fully dedicated to anti-traditional ideology.
