Living sustainably has to be *better* for people (not a hairshirt) to be accepted. Perhaps enshittification precedes that. The world gets degraded by AI & then suddenly a more solarpunk future becomes acceptable (compared to a shiny oppressive tech-run future with AI used by the powerful to steal creative labor, eliminate jobs, & enhance their wealth). Maybe AI “solves the climate crisis” by making the world so shitty that now we’re willing to make the changes necessary to live sustainably.
