At #MatrixConf2025, @npub1zfgx...ahj9 shared Switzerland’s journey towards recognising open source software as a key enabler of digital sovereignty. @The Matrix.org Foundation is highlighted as a driving example — also used at the Swiss Institute of Public Sector Transformation — while projects like @npub1u0ld...wvvv’s openDesk (including Element as the chat component) are being trialled in Switzerland’s public administration.

🇪🇺 “Europe must achieve digital sovereignty as quickly as possible — with secure communication between multiple governments being one of the most important areas to address.” Having attended the Summit on Digital Sovereignty, @Amandine highlights the role of open standards in Susanne Ehneß’s write up for eGovernment. Digital sovereignty means control and freedom of choice, not dependence on proprietary, non-European platforms.
