𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 As a follow-up to my thread covering major #Bitcoin events in 2023, here's an overview of some of what we can expect in 2024.👇 In 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆, (and in only a few more days!), Bitcoin will turn 15 years old. We can also expect the first Bitcoin ETFs to be approved by the SEC in the first week or two. In 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆, schools in El Salvador will start their next term, and will include education on Bitcoin. In 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹, the BitBlockBoom conference will take place in Dallas, TX. And likely late in the month, the amount of new bitcoin being mined with each block will be halved from 6.25 to 3.125. This will push Bitcoin's Stock-to-Flow ratio from ~59 to ~120, the highest of any money in history. In 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆, the Bitcoin Conference will take place in Nashville, TN. In 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁, the Baltic HoneyBadger conference will take place in Riga, Latvia. In 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿, the Bitcoin Whitepaper will turn 16 years old, adding another year to Bitcoin's history of soundness and reliability. In 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿, the new FASB accounting rules will go into effect, allowing businesses that hold bitcoin to report their bitcoin 𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴, and not just their losses. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗨𝗗 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯! It’s Friday again, so it’s time for me to respond to some common FUD, and let it die, just like the year 2023. This week’s FUD: “𝘽𝙞𝙩𝙘𝙤𝙞𝙣 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙧.” A lot of people feel intimidated by new technology, and no one alive today has seen a new money arrive on the scene, so understanding #Bitcoin can sometimes seem daunting. There’s nothing to worry about, though. Here’s why👇 The notion that Bitcoin is too complex for the average user is a myth perpetuated by a general misunderstanding and fear of the new. Bitcoin is an innovative solution 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘺 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦, and tools for using it are continuously evolving to make it easier to use. Critics sometimes liken Bitcoin's creation to going through the process of inventing the whole universe, just for the ability to bake an apple pie. While its foundational concepts are intricate, and designed to address deep systemic flaws, 𝗕𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗶𝗻’𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱. Once demystified, Bitcoin's true nature as a practical and essential innovation becomes clear. 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲. It's akin to driving a car without knowing the intricacies of its engine. As an average user, you don’t need to learn every part of how it works, you only need to know 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 it works, and how you can use it effectively. Individual sovereignty — and therefore also personal responsibility — is Bitcoin’s core principle. This might seem like a new and even uncomfortable concept to some, but it means that 𝗕𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. Bitcoin's design makes it resistant to censorship and inherently robust. For those intimidated by Bitcoin's perceived complexity, 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘢𝘷𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦. Bitcoiners tend to love talking about Bitcoin, and most of them will be willing and able to answer your questions. And 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗕𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀, so I can simplify Bitcoin's concepts, and guide you through understanding its principles and functionality. To all new or potential Bitcoiners, don't be swayed by this or any other fear, uncertainty, or doubt about Bitcoin. 𝘌𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘫𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘰𝘪𝘯 𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘣𝘪𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘦. With each step, what may seem complicated now will become clear, and empower you with confidence, self-sovereignty, and generational wealth. How was that answer? First, it’s recommended that you use services like @lightsats or @River, which provide a user-friendly way to gift #bitcoin to someone, along with step-by-step instructions on how the bitcoin can be claimed. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘦, so they can receive and store their bitcoin safely and easily. Additionally, it’s important to provide them with advice on how they should custody their bitcoin. This includes explaining 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝘀, and the potential risks associated with 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 “𝗵𝗼𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁”, or an app that’s connected to the internet. Encouraging the use of hardware signing devices can help protect their bitcoin from potential theft or loss. And lastly, the recipient should be informed that for the time being, 𝗕𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲, so their bitcoin gift should be kept somewhere safe for several years while Bitcoin matures in price and acceptance. They’ll need to understand that despite Bitcoin’s volatility, 𝘯𝘰 𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘰𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘺 4 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘥 𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳, so they should treat this as a gift that will help them in the long-term. By providing guidance on these matters, your friend or family member can make informed decisions about how to handle their bitcoin gift and ensure its safekeeping. If they follow your instructions, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘪𝘵 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘭𝘺, not only financially, but also simply by owning some money that’s outside the control of the central banking system.
