We took a break from filming in Nehirowisiw territory (also known as Nitaskinan, homeland of the Atikamekw) for our upcoming documentary Guardians of the Forest to meet with Rehab Nazzal—who first met Clifton Ariwakehte Nicholas in 2016 when she served as an activist guide during his visit to Bethlehem and the occupied West Bank. This time, Clifton was able to return the gesture by welcoming her to Kanehsatà:ke and sharing the land with her alongside longtime land defender and Siege of Kanehsatà:ke veteran Ellen Gabriel.
