The Trump administration has once again thrown its weight behind "improved" untested and more deadly jabs, this time by granting Fast Track designation to ARCT-2304, a self-amplifying mRNA vaccine for H5N1 avian influenza. The self-amplifying mRNA (SAM) vaccine works by encoding both the antigen of interest and the viral replication machinery. Once the mRNA is delivered into the host cell, it is translated to produce the antigen protein as well as the replication enzymes. These enzymes then amplify the mRNA within the cell, leading to increased expression of the antigen protein and a stronger immune response (I.e., the body trying to detox itself) compared to traditional mRNA vaccines that do not amplify themselves.
