The Knyaz Pozharsky submarine entered service on July 24, 2025. A Russian milblogger used the arrival of the submarine at Severnomorsk to claim that the Knyaz Pozharsky is far superior to American analogues and that the Russian Navy will put the Knyaz Pozharsky on combat duty in response to Trump’s deployment of nuclear submarines.

The research fellow's August 2 claim parallels a Russian milblogger's August 1 call for Russian ships and submarines equipped with nuclear weapons to visit Cuba. Both responses attempt to invoke the historical memory of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
