I think Americans, blessed with relatively stable government for a long time, assume there is someone, some adult, who will step in and make things right before the President does anything REALLY bad.
There’s not.
Lee Atwater had a pungent and famous quote about how once conservatives could no longer use the n-word they used things like “states’ rights” to invoke the same spirit.
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration any more — if it ever was — to say they use DEI as the n-word.

The GOP’s and right-wing media’s complete capitulation to the nomination of RFKJr. is a pretty good indicator of what a sad cult they have become. Dude is a career lunatic and they are all in because it reflects Trump’s power.
There seems to be a surge of people who don’t understand irony, sarcasm, satire, or parody, which is unfortunate because all I have other than those things is pity and disdain
