I remember driving between France and Spain 25 years ago and the former border crossing at San Sebastian was abandoned
All the booths where guards would individually check each vehicle boarded up and all the traffic was forced around the side of the building
I always found it amazing that all that traffic between two frontiers were funneling into a single track make do road
And the state of the road! all the thousands of trucks had created massive potholes where their huge trailers bounced over it time and time again.
