Things that have helped me—A Cold Person—in my current three-seasons-cold biome have been: * thick plushy zip jacket for all PJs-adjacent times of day * fleece-lined Carhartt pants 10 months a year * three electric heating pads: back of work chair, in bed for 10-15 min, on couch for morning coffee
I think this is very helpful to know! RE:
I almost never comment on mod decisions bc quick-turn analysis is not my ministry. But bc I posted about Sarah Kendzior's suspension—last night by asking how to learn if it was in error, today by saying I find it baffling—people are ascribing positions to me that I haven't taken. To clarify:
Looks like Sarah Kendzior’s suspension isn’t an error. I don’t know Sarah, but I’ve followed her on and off for like 15 years and this is very surprising to me. I’m not big on assuming the worst based on partial information but this feels bad. RE: View quoted note →
Presumably a mistaken suspension of a journalist who is a very anodyne poster over here, @Aaron Rodericks and co. What's the best way to reach the team who can look into it? RE:
Well, a skunk moving in under the back deck is definitely one way to escalate a situation
I'm so psyched about @Bonfire's work on making the open social internet good for real communities by putting in the culture work right from the very beginning. I'm a scavenger and a pragmatist *and also* I think the way we do things matters. [www.wrecka.ge/sparks-fly-up/]( ) [Sparks fly up]( )
Tried to post snark but I’m just spitting blood about these absolute cowards.
It is Good, Actually, to be both accurate and precise in specialist reporting! Not everything has to be pre-chewed for mass persuasion, a health information ecosystem has range. RE:
Real question bc there’s clearly a media culture thing here that I am not getting: Why are we not seeing citations to Sarah Kendzior, who has been on this exact beat for years? What is it about her and/or her work that has made it acceptable to ignore her? RE:
