A few observations about all the sports-betting cases:
1. Most of them bear hallmarks of long-term investigations, so they are probably not purely a Trump administration thing. Biden DoJ started them. Trump admin is definitely putting in lots of attention to finishing them.
/3 I think this is likely strategy by Justice Jackson -- she likely believes this route (rather than the stay being considered by the whole court) results in the shortest stay. But few will listen to that because of reasons 1-3, and I can't really fault them.
This is actually a pretty standard and unremarkable move, as evidenced by Justice Jackson issuing it.
But most people won't believe that for several good reasons.

Gore Vidal said “It’s not enough that I succeed, others must fail.” That’s how I feel about the disgraceful gutter-bigot campaign run against Mamdani and the do-you-need-to-borrow-an-Ativan freakout about him. These people spectacularly undignified.
Mamdani should recognize that his election shows that he is wrong on the issues and should abandon his policies and preferences for a bland Park Slope technocratic corporatism.

Normal People: I wouldn’t normally vote for X but under these circumstances again against these evil opponents they are the only choice:
Other Normal People: Let’s work together where we agree
Bluesky People: UNACCEPTABLE, I DEMAND YOU EXPLAIN WHY YOU DON’T ALWAYS SUPPORT X
Traditional American politics is premised on the notion that sometimes you lose and sometimes you win and you have to deal with that.
But Trumpism is premised on the notion that any result where you don’t win is illegitimate, unlawful, fraud, criminal.
You can’t negotiate with people like that.
I Never Thought It Would Happen To Me: Below is the final line of a judge’s tentative ruling denying an opposing party’s motion. We had pointed out that some of their cited cases did not seem to exist. The judge noticed.
I leave it to judicial watchers to evaluate the tone of the comment below.
