I am reaching the point where all I care about now is classic game consoles

I have tried dozens of things and can't get this fuckiing thing to output video. in the test harness by itself the chip properly outputs video. in the actual computer it outputs solid red, or black.

making my FPGA graphics core detect if a programmer writes to vram outside of an hblank or vblank interval and replaces the contents of the screen with an image that says "SOFTWARE DEV IS A DUMBASS"

I have been working on this FPGA thing for two solid days and still don't have working output except solid red

I got my architecture all specced and created in verilog and got it up and running, and now I have specific problems I couldn't solve myself so I gave it to AI and told it to go to town on it. It's been running for at least an hour and I'm watching it churn through every possibility about why things don't work right, and it's insane how complicated things are and I would never havbe been able to do anything like this without assistance.
