I had a literal nightmare that during a town hall, the VP of research at my university threatened to sue me because NOAA had taken back one of my grants, but I had already spent some of the funds. He was going to make me pay for it personally. Check on your climate scientist friends. We're not okay.
Before the pandemic, I was invited as a distinguished scholar at a Chinese university. I furiously scrubbed any negative thing I said about China from all my devices before I went.
