I’ve got a sick feeling that the guy is going to get away. The longer it goes the more I fear a copycat response towards a person on the left in retaliation or a copycat of another person on the right. Best case is some kind of closure and justice soon. People have dehumanized each other, and my best answer is for everyone to get out into your community and interact with real people that may turnout to have different beliefs and get to know them through positive working so that the next time the thought comes, that “those guys are evil” they can recall that you weren’t. And overtime we rehumanize each other.
Here is what I have been doing: Seek local physical clubs and non-profits with missions and interests I have. A church if you don’t belong to one (whether you believe or not), a gardening or ham radio club, cub scouts, or other outdoor group. The fact is real community is work. It is hard and uncomfortable and you are likely not going to hit it off with every person and you are busy and scheduling will be hard and you won’t perfectly agree on what to do as a group and a dozen other things will have more friction than opening an app on your phone. Which is why attendance to and participation within these physical manifestations of communities has been dropping for decades. But the physical pops the online bubble.
I implore you to seek it out
