Lol, maybe I'm too brainwashed by the system but the WBD episode with Simon Dixon is comically conspiratorial. Sure, probably lots of shady stuff going on that most people don't know, but the way all these well known historical events, people, and recent headlines tie in together via some omnipotent "they" is a bit much.
Imagine if J Powell comes out as a Bitcoin maxi once his term ends. Not priced in πŸ˜…
The paradox of the US freeing (TBC) Venezuela by force reminds me of Napoleon's early military conquests. He replaced the leadership of many Italian city states, took a large fee from them, but also implemented more representative leaders and more progressive laws. It was a catalyst for Western democracy which we celebrate even if we condemn Napoleon by modern standards for much of his approach. He was hated by the elites of other nations, even while they were also obsessed with him. Ultimately, European monarchs and the British conspired to defeat him, but we still enjoy his legacy today.
"Junk" food advertising ban going into effect today in the UK. This means the actual food can't be shown, but well know brands (McDs, Dominos etc) can still run the ads. Once again regulation benefits large incumbent corporations.
Wonder when @Saifedean Ammous publishes The Mackerel Standard
Managed to trick my 4 year old into giving me hugs: Told her I have to check that her clothes are on properly ☺️
Been on this earth almost 4 decades, and still don't know where to put my arms when I'm sleeping
Chatting to a colleague from Bedford and asked which football team he supports - it's not the one bought "by some weird crypto guy" πŸ˜‚
Pretty sad that you have to pay so much more in BTC for @Nik Bhatia's Bitcoin Layer subscription vs. fiat. I used to subscribe mainly because of the Bitcoin payment option. Then they made Bitcoiners pay annually, and now it's more expensive than fiat.
Lots of Americans here like to deride the UK and condescend to those who live here. Bro, where the fuck would (and could) we go that's more free? Also, current UK government is near guaranteed to lose the next election, and current front runners (and their likely coalition partner) are highly critical of the free speech curbs. I'm originally from South Africa, and yes you can pay with Bitcoin in more places, but they have a pretty long list of their own issues. UAE is a dictatorship. El Salvador they throw you in prison for having tattoos. You can't easily move to the USA. Europe is collapsing. Could move to Switzerland but I don't speak the language, and probably couldn't easily move there. UK is actually an incredible country, but with problems. London is a great city (but yes also has some crime and a shit mayor). Staying and voting harder (plus stacking Bitcoin) actually a decent choice.
