Anyone else miss FunOrb? It was created by Jagex, the developers behind RuneScape, and it was a large suite of browser-based casual games. Many of them were iterations upon retro classics and arcade genres, though some were pretty unique as well (Arcanists is a prime example). The cool part was that it was more than just games: it was an ECOSYSTEM. Lots of social features, hiscores/achievements, great forums, etc. #RetroGames #throwback #RuneScape #jagex #arcade
Has anyone else noticed that Mastodon is trying to essentially force you to include alt text for images now? It drives me insane having to exit that stupid popup every time I post an image. I get that some folks have various eye issues, and I feel for them, but I really don't get the point of the alt text concept. :terry_nono: #fediverse #mastodon #alttext #annoyance
I've joined RetroAchievements and linked it to RetroArch so, whenever I use it for emulating certain games, I'll be able to unlock some achievements for them. I also have Hardcore Mode enabled for now, though I can't promise I'll keep it like that since I do tend to prefer playing with save states on certain games. If you use RetroAchievements and want to follow me, this is my link! https://retroachievements.org/user/JakobFel #RetroGames #retro #RetroAchievements #emulation #gaming
Let's get some of our negativity out before the new year! What are some lasting practices from the retro games era that we DON'T want to see anymore? I'll go first: console exclusivity. Back in the day, consoles themselves were designed to be different and the exclusive games were a cherry on top. Nowadays, though, virtually all consoles are roughly the same at the hardware level and exclusivity makes no sense anymore, creating artificial barriers to fun. #RetroGames #retro #rant
I mean, the Super Famicom version is pretty nice to look at but personally, I think the North American SNES design is fantastic. And I really don't know why some people have issues with the gray and purple. To me, that gray and purple palette really helped the SNES and classic Gamecube stand out.
I hope everyone had a solid Christmas! Did y'all get anything cool? I got some pretty nice gifts but the ones I had to show Retro Gaiden are these controllers. I asked for the Logitech based on some of your recommendations, and I asked for the SNES one since I like my Genesis controller from Retro-Bit. Pretty fun Christmas on my end! 🎄 🎮
I've added a Steam Curator to the Cyberspace Lounge Steam group! These reviews will be written from the perspective of a 90s gamer thrust into the modern era. I figure this should be a fun way to make the reviews stand out, and it also gives me the ability to take a second look at games from a different mentality. Please join the Steam group and follow the curator! #Steam #CyberspaceLounge #retro #90s
A small update to Cyberspace Lounge is live. I've replaced the server artwork with all-original AI renders, added some custom emojis and also spun up a Steam group for anyone who wants to play and chat about games on the largest PC games platform. I'd love to have y'all stop by! https://199x.chat/invite/c6CFE6AV #CyberspaceLounge #cyberspace #cyberpunk #vaporwave #retro #retrotech #internet #memes
Still technically a rumor but I really hope it's true. Oblivion is still my favorite video game of all time, and while it still plays well, I'd be interested in seeing a remaster or remake (provided it's not just a cheap cash grab or propaganda piece). #RetroGames #Oblivion #ElderScrolls
