A former online friend of mine (who cut off our friendship because he blamed me for his own choice to deconstruct his faith, but I digress) once talked about how he wasn't a fan of the chibi approach in JRPGs. I understand the criticism because I used to feel the same way... until I saw #NihonFalcom's Napishtim Engine games. This art style is massively appealing, if a bit dated.
Sometimes, I feel like the only person in the #Sonic fandom that genuinely views Sonic Adventure 2 to be the best Sonic game ever made. It's not even just nostalgia (played it a LOT on the Gamecube). From a design perspective, it takes everything that made the first Sonic Adventure game great and strips out its flaws, even bringing a pretty interesting plot to the mix. I don't know, it just seems like a lot of fans hate on it for some reason. #SEGA #RetroGames
Thanks to the new #Steam Families feature, I'm able to play the recent remaster/re-release of the first two #Doom games and I'm really loving it. The new soundtrack is perfection!
"Quick little question for ya: have you ever had moments where ya thought, 'Darrrrn it, my life kinda sucks'?" Yeah, I have a lot of those moments nowadays. "Well, I've got just the thing for ya and it's called the Super Nintendo." He's not wrong. I may be a Sega fan but the SNES never fails to make me feel less annoyed with life's stupidity. #RetroGames #Nintendo #SNES #SuperNintendo
Two non-retro titles but most of these are considered retro now. If, by unlikely chance, you haven't played this series yet, you need to. If you enjoy classic RPGs like Ultima and Wizardry, it's a must. The first two games are free and they're all masterpieces with the exception of Battlespire and Redguard (which were experimental but still worth playing). $22.49 for the greatest game franchise ever, in my book. You can't beat that! #ElderScrolls #RPG #RetroGames
Even though I still love Bethesda's games (having been a fan since Morrowind), this is absolutely ridiculous. I didn't even mind Creation Club, since it was official content and had to meet some requirements (thus it was usually pretty decent content overall). But no. Paid mods are not acceptable to me. Like this guy says, modding used to be a community hobby. A way to make fun content for games we love, keeping it alive for many years. Yet another way retro is better.
Man, I had forgotten just how much wall jumping in #SuperMetroid SUCKS. :odysee_angry: #RetroGames #Nintendo
For the first time in my life, I actually fully beat the original #Mario. Full disclosure, I did use warp zones with a save state at the beginning of each zone, but still: I've never gotten beyond world 5 before today. #RetroGames #Nintendo image
I haven't played the NES version yet but the Master System version of Ninja Gaiden is HARDCORE. #RetroGames #SEGA
We're not even half a year into Retro Gaiden but it feels so much longer than that because of the community here. I've mentioned in the past that I've avoided the Fediverse due to how saturated it is with politics (and drama, if you question those politics). I gave RG a whirl because I knew of [@Oregon_Pacifist]( ) on Odysee & Gab, but didn't expect for it to kick my retro interests into overdrive. So, thanks to OP and the RG community for maintaining this haven from modernity! #RetroGames
