True story: I once played basketball with a learning-disabled teen who literally could not tell the difference between left and right, which was a problem for executing our plays. I did not make fun of him, but tried to help. I said to hold out his hands and see which one formed an "L" with his thumb. That's the Left hand. He was happy. But the very next time he tried it on our end of the court, he held out his hands palms-up! 😆
