Google, iCloud etc. are copystores that take your content and give you a limited license back to access "your" content. Nothing copied there should count as backup, in my opinion. When Google or Apple decide to block/delete your account, you lose access and learn the hard way that it never was your data to begin with. Store locally. Use cloud services for convenience (I do too), but keep your backups physically close. Yes, it's a bit more work but it is so, so worth it.
