Imho this also applies to “open-source” AI and things developed as “digital public good/infrastructure/…”. It gets more complicated when interoperability enters the picture, eg between Mastodon/Threads or WhatsApp/Signal - interop can push the “nicer” option to become more like the big player. (1/2)
