Aligning US vaccine policy with Denmark would not move America toward international consensus. But it would put American children at risk. #publichealth #vaccines #rfkjr #antivax #children
Today in Labor History December 23, 1933: Dutch construction worker and council communist Marinus van der Lubbe was sentenced to death for burning down the Reichstag. In prison, he launched a hunger strike against prison conditions, but was forcibly fed. The Nazis beheaded him on January 10, 1934 by guillotine. In 2008, the German government posthumously pardoned him. Van der Lubbe claimed to have set the fire in order to inspire the German working-class to rise up against fascism. He also claimed to have acted alone. However, the Nazis tried to make it into a communist conspiracy and arrested several other communists, who were ultimately acquitted of involvement in the fire. Many on the left, including the Comintern, or Third International (1919-1943), falsely claimed he was a Nazi agent and provocateur, or that it was a Nazi-run false flag operation. Lenin, whom founded the Comintern, hated the Council (Left-wing) Communists and lambasted them in his 1920 screed: "Left-Wing" Communism: An Infantile Disorder.” #workingclass #LaborHistory #nazis #fascism #reichstag #communism #councilcommunism #marinusvanderlubbe image
In case you needed reminding, the Dem's leading candidate for POTUS in 2028, Gavin Newsom, is a shit candidate: *Attacks the unhoused *Throws transgender folks under the bus *Gives handouts to big corporations and undermines minimum wage protections *Panders to fascists on his podcast (e.g., Charlie Kirk and Steve Bannan) *Attacks living conditions for people with disabilities *Engages in corrupt "Pay-to-Play" politics Citations below: #gavinnewsom #potus #trans #fascism #democrats #homelessness #poverty #corruption #ableism image

Speaking of amnesty, today in Labor History December 23, 1947: Pres Truman pardoned 1,523 WWII draft resistors. However, he let the remaining 14,282 war resisters continue to rot in prison. John Wayne was one of the most famous World War II draft dodgers. However, he never served time. On the contrary, while other leading men, like Clark Gable, were fighting to protect the interests of Capital, Wayne was busily scooping up their roles and making a name for himself in Hollywood. Check out this classic 1984 footage of MDC performing John Wayne Was a Nazi #workingclass #LaborHistory #ww2 #nazi #fascism #mdc #draftdodger #antiwar #johnwayne #punk #prison
Today in Labor History December 23, 1938: Franco's forces launched an assault on Catalonia, capturing Barcelona on January 26, after bombing the hell out of it in March. Between 400,000 and 500,000 civilians and Republicans fled across the border into France, where they were imprisoned in internment camps. Tens of thousands ultimately made it to the USSR, U.S. and Latin America. Over 30,000 went to Mexico. The total number of deaths from the assault is unknown. However, over 10,000 were wounded and over 60,000 Republican soldiers were captured. The Republican forces were already weakened by the time of the assault. However, the USSR had promised them 250 planes, 250 tanks and 650 cannons which didn’t reach France until January 15. Very little of it made it into Spain. Virtually no other countries supported Spain’s antifascist militias. Consequently, they were isolated and, at this point, starving. #workingclass #LaborHistory #spanish #civilwar #antifa #antifascist #anarchism #fascism #barcelona #ussr #soviet #russia #mexico
