Was in Madison, Wisconsin, yesterday at the executive residence for a gathering of Gold Star family members hosted by Wisconsin governor Tony Evers. It’s a tradition that was started by Democratic governor Jim Doyle and his wife about 20 years ago, was continued by Republican Scott Walker and now Evers. I’ve been to several, including the final one Doyle hosted in 2009, this time taking my mother. She enjoyed meeting Evers and had a nice visit with his wife, Kathy.
