Forty-three women in Argentina say they were lured to Opus Dei schools as children and teenagers under promises of receiving an education. Instead, they say they were forced into working up to 12-hour days, cooking and cleaning for the elite male members, without pay.
They say they faced extreme levels of control, with their letters censored, family visits discouraged, and the reading of anything other than childrenβs books or religious texts banned. When the women eventually escaped, they say they were left without money, clothes or qualifications.
This is not right. It's one thing to euthanize a person with a debilitating illness who physically cannot do it themselves or for someone who decides on it for the future when dementia is really renders them incapable.
But I KNEW this would happen. The government just wants to lighten its financial burden by killing sick people. I knew it then and this is just confirming evidence.
This report details 22,535 reports of MAID requests that Health Canada received in 2024. A total of 16,499 people received MAID; the remaining cases were requests that did not result in a MAID provision (4,017 died of another cause, 1,327 individuals were deemed ineligible and 692 individuals withdrew their request).
