Here’s where we are: for years, I’ve been reporting a group of men to the police. They’ve harassed dozens of people, committed fraud, and in some cases been convicted of serious crimes including sexual assault on a minor. When I report the harassment and death threats they send my way, nothing happens. When others report them, nothing happens. But here’s whatΒ doesΒ happen: the police investigateΒ usΒ for talking about them. The grotesque nature of this collaboration would be fascinating from a distance. Unfortunately, I’m not at a distance, and it’s been going on for years. So I’ve decided to do something that feels wonderfully ridiculous and also completely necessary: hire a proper private detective.Β
