This brings to mind the legendary Queen Nzinga Mbande, born in 1583 and ruling over what is present-day Angola. At one point, she was trying to negotiate the return of her brother (why she caped for him given his uselessness to his nation is another question). As an insult, they didn't give her a chair to sit on like them and instead left floor mats. So she instructed one of her servants to sit on all fours and then Nzinga sat on HER and conducted negotiations. Her brother was returned shortly after.
Her story is a lot more twisted than that, but a lot of it may have been fictionalized accounts to make her seem more horrid and twisted than she was because, you know, she was supposed to roll over and let white men, at least SOME kind of man, take everything from her.
