So, after blockchains, cryptocurrencies, NFTs, metaverse, VR, AI-for-everything... what is the next bubble?
Any chance that it will be small, sustainable, local computing?
# How hard is it to become an influencer? Three people with zero followers find out
I found this interesting, simply from the perspective that the methodology was not to use social media to build a connection and engage with people, but rather to blat out "content" and hope for loads of clicks from strangers, as if the sheer number of clicks was the sole objective.
I couldn't care less about the number of clicks on anything I post here. It is about the people.
# Digital ID cards to be compulsory for all UK adults under government plans
*sigh*
Tiny details, like what to do about people who don't have a compatible smartphone, still need to be worked out..
# Children's names, pictures and addresses stolen in nursery hack
Seemingly not so much a "nursery hack", as a compromise of a third party provider of hosted services to nurseries.
Does everything really need to be an Internet-accessible, third party service?
# Government could buy car parts to protect Jaguar Land Rover suppliers
I am a bit baffled by this.
I could understand using taxpayer money to establish UBI, so that the impact of an event like this is less immediately impactful on the affected staff.
But otherwise isn't this for JLR, as a private company, to sort out in terms of a commercial loan, if it wishes to keep trading?
# [Announcement] Upcoming new requirements for YouTube downloads
If you use `yt-dlp` to download videos from YouTube, you will want to read this.
(`yt-dlp` covers far more than YouTube, but this is specific to YouTube.)
> The guidance also provides further clarity for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) networks specifically. Including the need to promote all view points equally, and ensure their role - to promote equality and inclusion in the Civil Service for everyone - is not lost in pursuit of a particular issue.
"to promote all view points equally"?
Am I missing something here, in the context of EDI?
