It looks as if Apple's security model for macOS meant that a friend lost some work she had done using LibreOffice Writer. It appears that one needs to go to macOS System Preferences > Security and Privacy > Privacy, and give full disk access to LibreOffice, before macOS will save the file correctly. This may be well known, but clearly it is not known to everyone, and hopefully this might help someone out there! #macOS #LibreOffice

The prime minister says the proposal could play an important part in tackling illegal working in the UK.

The Open Rights Group is working on an amendment to the OSA which would propose a small site exemption, for sites that are maintained without a view to profit, with a small number of active users, and which the owner reasonably believes to pose no risk to users. I am idly reflecting on the days when I would have to make a decision to go online. Cue beeps and screeches and boops, and then I would be online. I would retrieve stuff from servers, and then disconnect. Part of me wonders what it would be like to go back to that approach. It would be a massive change to my approach to work, probably entirely impractical, but something about it appeals.
