(FWIW I had an inspiration for something built on ATprotocol four days ago, and got a prototype working last night and it's soooo cool. Needs some more work before I say more, and I wasn't going to talk about it yet, but I can't wait to share more about it...) View quoted note →
Had missed this but looks like an admission that Elon's plan, to destroy independent developers building on ExTwitter by charging tens of thousands of dollars for API access, has failed, and they're switching over to usage based pricing. Of course, you can just build here in the Atmosphere for free https://oyster.us-east.host.bsky.network/xrpc/com.atproto.sync.getBlob?did=did:plc:cak4klqoj3bqgk5rj6b4f5do&cid=bafkreig3leeob2d75vbvr5up7swqhydoaxl64ra2ao4rw2h3epan2g6nly
If we just disagreed on the proposal/outcomes/etc., okay, I can get that. But you made factual errors about the law that are fundamental to your argument.
Pretty rich of Ted Cruz to be hauling Google and Meta execs before the Senate to talk about "Joe Biden's jawboning" literally days after Pam Bondi admitted she calls Meta to have them remove groups, and as Trump says the new TikTok should be 100% MAGA www.commerce.senate.gov/2025/10/part... Part II of Shut Your App: How ...
And the RIAA is teaming up with them, cynically and obnoxiously, to try to use some of that "anti-sex trafficking" veneer to push their own destructive anti-internet policy of holding ISPs liable for not banning users from the internet entirely based on mere accusations (not proof) of infringement
If you don't know NCOSE actually started as "Operation Yorkville" and then "Morality in Media" an extremist religious org focused on stomping out ALL adult content, which they describe as pornographic. But it includes anything from LGBTQ content to atheism. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nationa... https://oyster.us-east.host.bsky.network/xrpc/com.atproto.sync.getBlob?did=did:plc:cak4klqoj3bqgk5rj6b4f5do&cid=bafkreifftbqi4jqgzci36u62zop475hc5u6hm3tljtvhnvrcfdomqdclwq
This is both gross and extremely cynical by the RIAA, a group who has in the past pretended to stand up for the free speech rights of musicians and artists. Musicians should be questioning whose interests the RIAA is looking out for if they're financially supporting NCOSE.
Excuse me what? The RIAA is now funding NCOSE to file bullshit amicus briefs before the Supreme Court?!? That is way more fucked up than even usual RIAA nonsense. Let me explain... https://oyster.us-east.host.bsky.network/xrpc/com.atproto.sync.getBlob?did=did:plc:cak4klqoj3bqgk5rj6b4f5do&cid=bafkreifl2iqvrtvml63zizl7hm47ncbzr33ndttge3wic3236w2s5wkg2m
Over the last decade, this has meant they have attacked tons of internet related companies and policies, all in the goal of stifling speech online. A key target for them has been to outlaw encryption. They also regularly attack Section 230. Basically anything that enables speech online, they hate.
Because, I promise you, NCOSE would gleefully move to silence many RIAA-label supported artists, claiming their music is "obscene" and must be stopped. It would be nice if artists on RIAA labels spoke up about how they feel about the RIAA supporting NCOSE's attacks on speech.
