๐ค Andrew Snowden MP asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment has been made of police and enforcement capacity to investigate cryptocurrency-related crimes, including scams, ransomware payments, and illicit trading platforms.
๐ค In response, Dan Jarvis MP responded that the UK government has strengthened UK policing capabilities to tackle cryptocurrency-related crime effectively.
The Government will also soon publish a new fraud strategy designed to tackle all types of scams, including those involving cryptocurrencies.

๐FCA launches Stablecoin Sandbox
Financial Conduct Authority has launched a special cohort within its Regulatory Sandbox for firms issuing stablecoins. This is a unique chance for innovative companies to test their stablecoin products and services under the UK's evolving regulatory regime.
This cohort is part of FCA's commitment to supporting growth and innovation in UK financial services. It complements broader innovation initiatives such as the Digital Securities Sandbox.

๐Capital Gains Tax on Crypto:
๐ค Andrew Snowden MP has raised a number of questions in Parliament on Crypto's potential risks to financial stability and also on the tax treatment of crypto.
โก๏ธ On financial stability, Mr Snowden has asked the Treasury to assess the risks that cryptocurrency market volatility may pose to UK financial stability.
๐ค Economic Secretary Lucy Rigby KC MP said the Bank of Englandโs Financial Policy Committee continues to monitor market-related risks and that the government will introduce legislation this year to create a comprehensive regulatory regime for cryptoassets.
โก๏ธ On Taxation, Mr Snowden also asked whether the Treasury plans to review capital gains tax treatment for crypto transactions to improve clarity and compliance. Lucy Rigby said the government recognises the potential of cryptoassets and blockchain to drive economic growth and will continue to keep crypto taxation under review as the technology evolves.
