Whether it is the longest or the shortest night of the year for you, we hope you make the best out of it and enjoy this astronomical event and celebration of seasonal change. This year, we've realized Disroot is at a turning point. The project has grown beyond what we can maintain in our free time with duct tape and determination alone. That's why we've started financially compensating muppeth with €1,000 per month, with the goal of increasing this gradually — through your donations — until we can pay full-time work on Disroot. This is a critical step to securing the project's future. But here's the challenge: we're falling short of this year's financial target. Even worse, we're unable to support the open-source projects we rely on as much as we used to. While donations have increased since 2020, the number of supporters has stayed the same. # Disnews 24.11 - Lacre open beta We are happy to announce we enter a next phase of Lacre testing (end to end mailbox encryption). From now on you could send your public keys to enable it on disroot.org. It's still early times so consider it only when you know one or two things about GnuPG/PGP. Read more details at:

Disroot is a platform providing online services based on principles of freedom, privacy, federation and decentralization.

As we have been dealing with stability issue on our XMPP server for some days, if you experience any connectivity issues, please do ping us via email (support@) or on fedi. We hope the issue is contained atm but could be it isn't. We suspect it has to do with flooding certain MUC's with presence stanza when room is bridged to Matrix room via bifrost. Especially large inflated matrix rooms with thousands of inactive (but present in the room) users. Seems to be specially bad when additionally room is bridged to telegram and others. So keep us posted if things are weird, we are keeping an eye and hope to work out some solution next week if issue comes back
