One of the most anticipated novels drops today. Shadow Ticket by Thomas Pynchon. It's one of the few chances to read a novel with the entire world at once by one of the greatest living novelists. You will not have this chance for the rest of your life, he is 88 years old.
This is becoming my favorite conference. I know it's "on brand" for me to say this but these irl events I find much more fulfilling. Someone handed me a tape when they saw me, they remembered me from last year, and I was taken aback when I received applause for a poem mid-talk. Thank you for all that attended. Thank you @Juraj and @No Good Kid for this amazing zine. I have lots to think about now but first I must water all my plants! View quoted note →

Thomas Pynchon has a new book, Shadow Ticket, that will be released in a week. His last book, Bleeding Edge, was published over a decade ago. For all my hackers out there, this one is not to be missed. He gets the culture correct, from the exploit cycle drops at blackhat and defcon, to a metal gear solid reference. I still prefer Crying the Lot of 49 the best, but if you were part of early hacker culture especially, you should enjoy Bleeding Edge. I wrote a Sestina, which is a kind of poem with rotating words, not unlike AES s-boxes, about it here.
